Below is a high-level outline of the process to establish an IPP and obtain the relevant licenses that are required before funder engagement and EPC process commencement.

STEP 1

PRE-FEASIBILITY & SPV ESTABLISHMENT

    Provisional Plant Layout/Capacity Verification

    Provisional Costing & Financial Viability Verification

  • Week 4

    Compile Pre-feasibility & Summarized Technical Report

    Commence IPP Legal Entity Registration

STEP 2

DETAILED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT & APPROVAL

  • WEEK 6-9

    In the Field Environmental Impact Assessment

  • WEEK 9-12

    Compile EIA Report for Submission

  • Week 12-16

    Engagement with Department Land Affairs

  • Week 12-16

    Engagement with Department Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment

  • Week 16-24

    Obtain Environmental Authorisations

STEP 3

TECHNICAL GRID APPLICATION & AUTHORISATION

  • WEEK 6-12

    Detailed PV Plant Layout and Design

  • WEEK 13-16

    Detailed Grid Interconnection with Proposed POC Design

  • Week 17-24

    Preparation of Detailed Technical Supporting Documents & Application Forms

  • Week 24-28

    Engagement with Grid Utility Provider

  • Week 29-40

    Obtain Grid Utility Provider Authorisation

STEP 4

IPP LICENSING PROCESS

    Final Review & Preparation of IPP License Application & Supporting Documents
